Two friends, Mava and X.ypno, have a weird hobby: they drop tabs and join a running club. They meet up in what is considered a conventional place for a rap video—a swimming pool—but they are all alone, enjoying each other’s company while eating tapas and drinking zivania. This comic setting gives them the inspiration for the idea: “Dude, let’s drop acid and join a random running club.”So they do, but they agree to go separately and pretend they don’t know each other so they don’t get caught being high. The problem is, their highness cannot be hidden. The weird characters of the running club do not enjoy running; we see them struggling, as opposed to our two characters, who enjoy their acid trip and the moment. As the song says, “Dude, where are you? I’m here, and everybody’s asleep.”This contrast between the colourful yet unhappy runners (the possible “wack motherfuckers”) and our two monochromatic, chill, and simple protagonists brings a visual metaphor to the meaning of the song, which talks about chillness, breaking conformity, and the abolishment of labels in a world that has forgotten how to enjoy and live in the moment. The acid tab symbolizes a different kind of consciousness—an artistic enlightenment that enables our artists to enjoy everything as a meaningful experience rather than a hustle. The clip leaves us wondering: did they really go to the running club, or were they just tripping out?
